Realme 55-inch 4K SLED TV launching in India on October 7

Realme has sent out invites for its digital event where the company will launch its upcoming SLED TV. The event is an online-only event and will be broadcast on Realme’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages. The invite sent out to the media reads, “We are glad to invite you for the digital launch of “Leap to Next Gen''. These tech lifestyle products will soon become a part of realme’s UNI Smart AIOT ecosystem and make users’ life cooler. Also during this event, we will introduce the World’s First SLED 4k TV(55”) which has industry’s leading display technology based on SPD (Spectral Power Distribution)”.

The event will be broadcast on Wednesday, October 7 at 12:30 PM.

Realme’s upcoming SLED boasts of a Spectral Power Distribution (SPD) technology used for the backlighting of the TV, but how this affects the viewing experience on the TV is something we will only know when we get our hands on it. Till now, we have seen TVs with LED backlighting, OLED TV and QLED TVs. So, it will be interesting to see if there is any difference between SLED and the other forms of backlighting.

Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has teased the TV on twitter and realme has shared some information about the SLED backlighting and you can read more about it here.

What remains to be seen is the OS and other features the TV brings and how it will distinguish itself (apart from SLED) to the slew of budget smart TVs available in the market. There are a lot of options to choose from when looking for a 55-inch 4K HDR TV and you can check out our list of best 55-inch TVs here.

Recently we have seen LG launch its premium 4K and 8K OLED and NanoCell TVs and you can learn more about them here. Toshiba also introduced 7 TVs in India recently including a Full-array local dimming LED TV and you can learn more about them here.
