Xiaomi launches Redmi 10X with MediaTek Dimensity 820 and 5G support: Specifications and pricing

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi 10X series in China. The Redmi 10X 5G, Redmi 10X Pro 5G along with the Redmi 10X 4G was announced at an event in China. The new smartphones bring 5G connectivity along with the Dimensity 820 chipsets and are aimed at boosting the 5G adoption ratio.

The 4G variant of the Redmi 10X is essentially a rebranded version of Redmi Note 9 for the Chinese market.

There’s currently no word on if and when the new Redmi 10X series will make its way to other regions including India. Let’s take a brief look at the Redmi 10X and Redmi 10X Pro 5G specifications and prices.

Xiaomi Redmi 10X and 10X Pro feature 6.57-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display that uses an AMOLED panel with a waterdrop notch cutout that gives the screen a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen is certified for HDR10+ playback with 600 nits maximum brightness.

The phones run on MediaTek Dimensity 820 5G chipset with an octa-core processor and Mali-G57 graphics chip. This is paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage options to choose from. The Redmi 10X series runs on MIUI 12 out-of-the-box.

The Redmi 10X Pro comes with a quad-camera setup which consists of a primary 48MP camera, an 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 119-degree field-of-view and a 5MP macro camera. There’s a 20MP front-facing camera on the Redmi 10X Pro while the regular 10X comes with a 16MP selfie camera. 

On the Redmi 10X, there’s a triple camera setup that consists of the same primary, ultra-wide and macro camera of the Redmi 10X Pro, with the exception of the telephoto lens.

The rear cameras can do 4K UHD recording at 30FPS and slow-motion videos in 720p at 960FPS.

Both the Redmi 10X Pro and Redmi 10X comes with the usual set of connectivity features including 5G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and USB Type-C port. The phones are equipped with a 4,520mAh battery with the Redmi 10X supporting 22.5W fast charging and 10X Pro supporting 33W fast charging.

The Redmi 10X 5G starts at CNY 1599 (~ Rs 16,900) for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, CNY 1799 (~ Rs 19,000) for the variant with 128GB storage, CNY 2,099 (~ Rs 22,200) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB version and CNY 2,399 (~ Rs 25,300) for the maxed-out variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The Redmi 10X Pro 5G starts at CNY 2229 (~ Rs 23,500) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and CNY 2599 (~ Rs 27,500) for the 256GB storage variant.

The Redmi 10X 5G goes on sale from June 1 and will be available in blue, pink, gold and white colours. The Redmi 10X Pro 5G will go on sale from June 6.
