Oppo Reno 5G launched at MWC Shanghai

Oppo has become the latest Chinese smartphone-maker to foray into the 5G space. After launching the 4G versions of the Oppo Reno and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom in China, Europe and India, the company has unveiled the 5G variant of the flagship model. Apart from the latest and fastest mobile network support, the specs of the Oppo Reno 5G remain the same. Unfortunately, the phone will not make it to India anytime soon because the country does not have the necessary 5G infrastructure in place yet.

Oppo Reno 5G Specifications:

As mentioned, the 5G variant of the Oppo Reno sports the same hardware as the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom (Review). The phone sports a Full HD+ 6.65-inch AMOLED display that offers 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution. Thanks to the shark-fin type pop-up camera, the phone is claimed to deliver a 93.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. The flagship has a Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and it sports a sixth-generation in-screen fingerprint sensor. On the back, the Oppo Reno 5G has a glass finish and there is "5G" branding above the camera.

The phone has the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and a 5G modem at the heart. It offers up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card. The phone houses the same 4,065mAh battery as it is in the 4G variant. This comes as a surprise because there’s a general notion that 5G sips up more battery than the 4G networks. The phone ships with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support.

When it comes to gaming, Oppo has included Game Boost 2.0 acceleration engine and Dolby Atmos support for an optimised gaming experience. The phone has HyperBoost 2.0, which includes GameBoost, SystemBoost, and AppBoost. Oppo says that this technology brings performance improvements in terms of game experience, system speed and APP opening speed, respectively.

The phone features copper tube liquid cooling tech for heat dissipation and keep the temperature of the phone under control. Oppo says that the tech includes a combination of Thermal Gel, a Graphite Sheet, Copper Pipe Liquid Cooling, and a Tri-cooling Control to manage the temperature of the smartphone. It runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 and has an AI-powered Breeno virtual assistant.

In terms of optics (Camera Review), the Oppo 5G features a triple camera setup on the back. The three sensors include a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and OIS, an 8MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a periscope telescopic lens complemented with a 13MP sensor. The triple camera setup is coupled with dual-LED flash and laser autofocus tech. On the front, the phone is equipped with a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, and an LED flash.

PS5 unboxing videos show how huge the console is

To say that Sony has been a bit coy when it comes to the PlayStation 5 would be a bit of an understatement. The company only recently announced the India pricing of the console and now finally we have unboxings of the console going live and one thing is pretty clear - The console is HUGE!  So what do you get in the box? Well… besides the console itself (and the manuals), you get: DualSense controller USB Type-C charging cable for the controller HDMI 2.1 cable Power cable for the console (no bulky adapter/box) Plastic stand Now the plastic stand is used if you place the console on its side. As there is no flat surface on either side of the console, the stand will ensure that it remains still. But you can also place it when propping up the console vertically. However, it does seem like the PS5 can stand on its own vertically if need be. IGN’s unboxing video gives you a good idea of how to place the stand. All of the unboxing videos mention the size of the console because it is pr...
