Realme separates from Oppo as India head Sky Li quits

Sky Li, Former Vice President of Oppo and Head of Oppo India, has announced that he has officially resigned from the company and has taken charge as the Global CEO for Realme, an online-exclusive sub-brand that Oppo launched in May. Li said that the Realme brand will focus on providing youth-oriented mobile phones that offer strong performance and stylish designs. “Young people across the globe may have different cellphone habits and aesthetic views but their demands are similar in terms of performance and design. With few options available in the market to meet the ever-changing customer demand, Realme is focusing on bridging the gap by providing products with the latest tech innovations along with strong performance and stylish designs. As Realme is targeting global market, we aspire to  inject fresh momentum into the global smartphone industry,” Li said in a statement. According to The Economic Times, Li wrote a letter to the Realme employees to introduce the new brand. “Before leaving Oppo officially, I've been in charge of OPPO's global overseas market during these past few years. The overwhelming response and trust from the young generation is something that has encouraged me to launch the new brand Realme,” Li wrote in the letter. The executive led Oppo to grow from the business available in three markets to one that covers 31 countries and regions, including Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Oppo now ranks among the top three smartphone companies in several countries. Realme global CEO Sky Li According to Realme, the company is very young in terms of team composition as the average age of team members is not more than 30 years. Realme launched its first smartphone ‘Realme 1’ and received a good response for its performance and design. The company claimed that Realme 1 witnessed sales of four lakh units in 40 days and quickly grabbed 1.4 percent market share in the second quarter, according to Counterpoint. It soared to the second place in India’s smartphone market by virtue of its monthly sales volume. Realme 1 was launched in three variants, 6GB RAM+128GB storage, which was priced Rs 13,990, 4GB RAM+64GB storage variant for Rs 10,990  and the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage version is available for 8,990. Coming to the specifications, the Realme 1 features a 6-inch Full HD+ display and a 18:9 display aspect ratio. It is powered by a 2.0 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 SoC and runs on ColorOS 5.0, which is based on Android 8.1. The phone is backed by a 3410 mAh battery. In the camera department, the Realme 1 features a single 13MP primary camera and on the front is an 8MP sensor. Interestingly, OnePlus CEO Peter Lau also parted ways with Oppo and founded OnePlus in December 2013. According to Counterpoint Research, OnePlus 6 was the best-selling model in premium segment making it the leader for the second quarter of 2018 surpassing Samsung and Apple. OnePlus (112 percent) was one of the fastest growing smartphone brands in the first quarter of 2018. OnePlus maintained the second position with one-fourth share of the total premium smartphone market.

PS5 unboxing videos show how huge the console is

To say that Sony has been a bit coy when it comes to the PlayStation 5 would be a bit of an understatement. The company only recently announced the India pricing of the console and now finally we have unboxings of the console going live and one thing is pretty clear - The console is HUGE!  So what do you get in the box? Well… besides the console itself (and the manuals), you get: DualSense controller USB Type-C charging cable for the controller HDMI 2.1 cable Power cable for the console (no bulky adapter/box) Plastic stand Now the plastic stand is used if you place the console on its side. As there is no flat surface on either side of the console, the stand will ensure that it remains still. But you can also place it when propping up the console vertically. However, it does seem like the PS5 can stand on its own vertically if need be. IGN’s unboxing video gives you a good idea of how to place the stand. All of the unboxing videos mention the size of the console because it is pr...
