Samsung has confirmed that it will be announcing its new Note series flagship, the Galaxy Note 9, at an “Unpacked” event on August 9 in New York. The company sent out invites for the event and also posted a video teasing the S-Pen stylus. While leaks on the internet have already given us enough clues as to what we can expect, a new report from a Russian news platform, mobile-review.com has unveiled new details. It claims that the smartphone will have 4,000 mAh battery, up from 3,300 mAh in Galaxy Note 8 (Review), and the S-Pen will have bluetooth capabilities. The latest leak lined up with what has been previously rumoured about the device and also touched upon the topics which were not reported earlier, like Bixby 2.0. The writer claims that he saw the device in the US, but was not able to use the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered virtual assistant as “it is not available for a number of languages, and in English it is extremely truncated.” The report said that Galaxy Note 9 could lso offer the same dual-aperture lens as the ones found on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The major difference, however, will be the placement of the device in market. While Galaxy S series smartphones are consumer-centric devices, Galaxy Note 9 is for those who are looking for a business device. In the display department, the phone with most likely come with an Infinity Display just like the Galaxy S8, S9 series and Note 8. Samsung may have increased the maximum brightness a little. There’s still uncertainty on the updated version of the AlwaysOn Display. As per the report, it exists in prototypes, but Samsung is likely to introduce it in the Galaxy S10. As far as the variants are concerned, the basic version of the device is expected to be 6GB RAM/128GB storage. Other two variants are reported to be 8GB RAM/256GB stoarge and 8GBRAM/512GB storage. All three are expecetd to offer an option to extend the memory. The Galaxy Note 9 may also have a completely reworked S-Pen, which may bring Bluetooth support and enhanced functionalities. If rumours are to be believed, the Galaxy Note 9 might just be an incremental update over the Galaxy Note 8. It is expected to feature thinner bezels and the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor will most likely be placed centrally, below the camera. The Galaxy Note 9 was earlier spotted on Geekbench and it was running on the company’s Exynos 9810 SoC with 6GB RAM. There will most likely be a Snapdragon 845 variant of the device for other regions. It could feature a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio. The handset is expected to launch running on Android 8.1 Oreo and could be backed by a 4000mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was previously spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) website. The filings it indicated the presence of two more device models, SM-N960F/DS and SM-N960X. Last year’s Galaxy Note 8 featured the model number SM-N950F and the Note 9’s SM-N960F/DS serial number hints at a dual-SIM version of the device, while the SM-N960X is speculated to be the factory-unlocked version. The report also notes that users may need to have a very sharp eye to diistingush the upcoming smartphone from its predecessor as the front panel may be quite similar, with the main difference being thinner bezels on the top and bottom. The smartphone is expected to inherit the camera in Galaxy S9+ that has a variable aperture. In terms of the weight, the smartphone is tipped to be slightly heavier as compared to Galaxy Note 8 due to the larger battery.
